Incorporated on June 17, 1950, the Town of Burgeo, Newfoundland and Labrador, with a population of 1300 people, has a seven member town council consisting of a Mayor, Deputy Mayor and five councillors. The daily administration duties of the Town are carried out in a modern, computerized office. Staff members are friendly, efficient and dedicated. The town has an outside workforce who are responsible for all maintenance and repair work in the community.

This vibrant fishing community has rich seafaring traditions, spectacular views, scenic trails and activities for all ages. Still the people of Burgeo are its greatest resource. Come to Burgeo and enjoy traditional Newfoundland hospitality in a town that embraces its history. Whether you come for a vacation or to visit family or just to see what the town is like, you will find something to see or do.

Burgeo is located by road (Route 480) from the TCH. There is a good possibility of seeing moose and/or caribou when travelling this road. From our town you can travel by ferry to the scenic communities of Francois, Grey River and Ramea. The Provincial ferry schedule can be obtained at: www.gov.nl.ca/ferryservices.

Burgeo is the home of the popular Sand and Sea Festival which is held at Sandbanks Provincial Park, the last weekend of July. At the park you can enjoy many miles of sandy beaches equivalent to any beaches in the country. Enjoy also the numerous walking trails at the park as well as the ones in town, i.e. Aarons Arm Trail, Maiden Tea Hill, etc.

Burgeo Harbour Authority has docking facilities for yachts and pleasure craft that include full access to showers, laundry facilities, electricity and high speed internet. Our town has a Fire Department, RCMP Detachment, Health Care Center, Modern All Grade K-12 School that is equipped with a Public Library and high speed internet, Museum, Grocery and Hardware Stores, Liquor Outlet, Bank, Motel, B & B and other Rental Units, Drug Store, Anglican and United Churches and Roman Catholic Chapel. If you are in our area, put Burgeo on your TO SEE list and you will not regret it.
